Mary Gray Narrowboat Holidays is a new hireboat company founded in winter 2008 who's aim is to offer privately owned narrowboats to discerning hirers at affordable rates. Although we are a small and new company we do have years of experience with narrowboats and the canals and we will endeavour to make your holiday as enjoyable, relaxing and safe as possible. We pride ourselves on the quality of our handovers and the quality of our two boats. Our first boat Mary Gray was launched in July 2007 and will start her second year of hire in 2009, and our second boat Lizzie May was launched on March 16 2009 and is now ready for hire.

Please note - we have chosen not accept on line bookings as we prefer to speak with our potential hirers at the time of enquiry to enable us to meet any individual needs. However the booking form may be printed out and posted to us once we have taken your provisional booking

 

TRAINING

Now that the season is starting to wind down, and before the weather changes for the worse, perhaps its time to think about training and having confidence in your boat handling.

Perhaps you hired for the first time this season and would like some professional tuition. Have you thought of on RYA Helmsman Course? The National Guide to Hire Boat Handover is available to hire boat operators to help promote safe enjoyment of the inland waterways. The logo can be a useful tool for you to look for when selecting your chosen holiday company.

When looking for a company to take your first boating holiday with, you need to be sure you will be given suitable tuition before leaving the base. It can be a daunting task travelling down the waterways for the first time. It isn't difficult, but in order that you feel comfortable you need to be with a company who takes your enjoyment and safety seriously.

We are pleased to announce that Mary Gray Narrowboat Holidays are now allowed to display the logo, having undergone a highly successful audit, to insure their instruction and handover process to customers includes all the information you will need to be sure you will know how to handle the boat and facilities aboard safely so you enjoy your boating adventure to the full.

All of our personnel are accredited by the British Marine Federation for Hire boat instruction & Handover procedures, so you will be in safe hands.

 

Where are we

We are located at Aquaduct Marina on the Shropshire Union Canal (The Middlewich Branch) approximately 5 miles from Nantwich. We are ideally located for a variety of routes including The Cheshire Ring, The Four Counties Ring, Llangollen and the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Chester, the Anderton Boat Lift and the Cauldon Canal are all accessible from this premier new marina.
